A. Al Wilson - Help Me (vocal)
B. Al Wilson - Help Me (instrumental)
AL WILSON recorded “Help Me” in 1966… and that’s all we can tell you about this obscure New York artist! He is often confused with his more famous namesake Al “The Snake” Wilson who recorded a number of superb soul sides for Soul City, Rocky Road, Playboy and Roadshow including, of course, his hit cover of Johnny Rivers’ “The Snake”. When Wilson was booked to appear at the Cleethorpes Northern Soul Weekender he performed a hastily learnt version of “Help Me”, by popular demand, before announcing to the crowd that it wasn’t actually him on the record. All we really need to know is that this tireless classic is now available from Outta Sight coupled with the original instrumental.
