All Time Northern Soul Classics - Two Fabulous Sides
MARIE KNIGHT made her name as a gospel superstar recording alongside the legendary Sister Rosetta Tharpe in a career that spawned over 40 singles from 1946 to 1965. To pop fans she is remembered for her original rendition of “Come Tomorrow” which became a No.4 UK pop hit for Manfred Mann. Either side of her 1961 “Come Tomorrow” are her two most collectable R&B dancers: “To Be Loved By You” released on Addit in December 1960 and “Come On Baby” on the Okeh label in February of ’62. But to Northern Soul fans she is forever synonymous with her penultimate secular non-hit “That’s No Way To Treat A Girl” and her swan song “You Lie So Well” both featured here back-to-back for the first time.
