B. Fabulous Playboys - Honkey Tonk Woman
THE NIGHTRIDERS, (aka The Nite Riders), joined Juggy Murray’s ‘Sue’ label in 1959 after he had seen them perform… “The Night Riders could fire up a club all night long!” They released just three singles for ‘Sue’ and we feature the second, “Lookin’ For My Baby” which has taken on epic status in the R&B clubs up and down the land. If you can find an original copy be prepared to spend up to $3,000!!!
THE FABULOUS PLAYBOYS hailed from Detroit and featured the legendary Carlis “Sonny” Monroe on lead vocals. The went on to become The Falcons but not before recording their 1961 masterpiece “Honkey Tonk Woman:” for the ‘Apollo’ under the guidance of another Detroit legend… Mr Groovesville himself, Don Davis!!!
